Nestled in the rolling countryside between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, Udine Golf Club (officially Golf Club Udine) is one of the most charming golf destinations in Northern Italy. Its setting combines peaceful nature, well-crafted holes, and the warm Italian atmosphere that makes every round here feel like a small getaway.
Location: Fagagna, near Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
Course: 18 holes, Par 72
Architect: Marco Croze
Opened: 1972 (renovated and modernized over the years)
At the very beginning of October, I was lucky enough to play a round at Udine Golf Club. The very first thing that captures your attention here is the mountain view — simply breathtaking. The panorama opens up especially beautifully from the green of the 6th hole. I was fortunate to have a perfectly clear day, and the mountains looked magnificent. On cloudy days, though, this view might disappear behind the mist, so don’t count on it every time.

As for the course itself — I was pleasantly surprised. I teed off among the first players that morning, and despite the early dew, the fairways were in excellent condition. The greens were also top-notch: fast, smooth, and well maintained.
One thing to keep in mind about Udine Golf Club is the significant elevation changes. If you have knee issues or simply don’t feel like testing your stamina, I strongly recommend renting a golf cart in advance. Many players choose to use one here, and for good reason — the walk can be challenging at times.
The only thing I slightly missed on the front nine was the presence of water hazards. Not because they make the course prettier, but because they add a strategic challenge to the game. Perhaps there’s an architectural reason for their absence — that’s something worth looking into.
Overall, Udine Golf Club left me with a very positive impression: a beautifully maintained course surrounded by nature, offering both peace and a touch of challenge — a perfect spot for an autumn round in northern Italy.

Udine Golf Club is a delightful combination of scenic beauty, excellent course
conditions, and authentic Italian charm. It’s an ideal choice for golfers seeking
a peaceful, nature-rich round — whether as part of a golf holiday in Northern
Italy or a relaxing weekend escape.
Would I play here again?
Absolutely — especially on a crisp autumn morning with those mountain views in sight.
